Back at Home
I am finally back up and going. We got up at the normal 7 AM and waited
to go to the airport. At noon Illinois time we left for the airport. The
Japanese patient taking my room passed us in the parking lot. The car was
on time but the ambulance for my chair had a cot in it. They sent for another
one while we went to the airport. I sat in the car for over an hour until
my wheel chair arrived. It took 3 ambulances to get it right. 2 of the
doctors and a nurse supervisor took us to the airport and took care of
our airport tax and luggage. They did all they could do to get us off safely.
Security took my 2 diet cokes and Linda V8 juice that had come over from
America. We met the United Captain in security. He walked us to our gate
and lined up everything we needed. He also checked on me twice in flight
and after. 13 hours just as scheduled. I watched 5 movies as I could not
nap.
Chicago was a zoo. Thank God for a service rep who got us through everything
and to where we needed to be. The American Eagle 50 min flight became over
5 hours late due to weather. Most was spent in the plane waiting to take
off. The seats were hard and the skin on my rear end has started to break
down. In all the trip took over 26 hours. Add a major head cold to complete
exhaustion and I slept through Friday, sat up once briefly Saturday, sat
up about 5 hours Sunday and am now back at it.
It has been three weeks since the surgery. My hands remain looser with
the right hand finger movement in the outer three fingers being better,
my left pec muscle can now be flexed, my rib muscles used in breathing
are working again, I can urinate fully at will for the last 2 weeks and
my leg muscles are stronger. Not bad for 3 weeks.
